San Diego, California.- At the recent annual conference organized by the Distilled Spirits Council of the United States, held in San Diego, California, Maribel Quiroga, Executive President of The Mexican Council of Wine and Spirits (CIVyL), spoke about the business opportunities that Mexico’s wine and spirits industry offers for economic growth and prosperity in North America.
“Mexico is known for iconic products such as tequila and mezcal, and our wine industry grows in sophistication and importance every year. In the case of tequila, the United States is our largest market, with exports of 392 billion liters over 4 billion dollars a year,” said Quiroga.
CIVyL‘s executive president underscored the organization’s commitment to supporting small and medium-sized enterprises that preserve artisanal production methods and are a fundamental part of Mexican culture.
He also emphasized how Mexico is becoming an increasingly attractive market for international spirits, especially with the rise of new cocktail trends that capture the imagination of consumers globally.
Quiroga’s participation in the conference was also an opportunity to thank and acknowledge the collaboration and insights shared by leading industry professionals, including Emmanuel Sanchez Ochoa, CEO and co-founder of Albatrans Mexico; Lorena Patterson, senior vice president of Public Affairs at Canada Spirits Association; Brian von Richter, category manager – Spirits at Alcool NB Liquor; and Robert Maron, vice president of International Trade at Distilled Spirits Council.
Together, they discussed strategies focused on working together at the regional level to expand and strengthen the North American wine and spirits industry.
